Preschool

Children age two on 1st September enter our Preschool 1 class. Those age three on 1st September enter Preschool 2 and age four enter Preschool 3. At the end of Preschool 3, students graduate to Grade 0.

Our preschool is inclusive, diverse and internationally minded and follows the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme from age 3, with the Preschool 1 class following a similar approach to prepare children to enter the programme. The programme covers seven subject groups:

  • Mathematics
  • Sciences
  • English Language and Literature
  • Arts
  • Physical and Health Education
  • Program of Inquiry
  • Kyrgyz Language – 15 minutes a day learning songs and games in Kyrgyz

The inquiry-based nature of the PYP is central to enabling students to develop their intellectual curiosity and make interdisciplinary connections. Teaching is divided into units structured around concepts, Global Contexts, skills, content and inquiry. Learning through Global Contexts enables students to explore topics through a global lens and understand the real-life applications of their knowledge and skills. Skills are taught explicitly, improved with practice and developed incrementally to give students the tools they need to become independent, collaborative and reflective lifelong learners.

Students in Preschool represent a diverse range of nationalities and cultures, which are celebrated in lessons, visually throughout the school and as part of whole-school cultural events.
